Boys Saxon Outfit

£25.00Price

Anglo-Saxons made their own clothes out of natural materials. The men wore long-sleeved tunics made of wool or linen. Their trousers were woollen and held up by a leather belt from which they could also hang tools such as knives and pouches. The women would wear an under-dress of linen or wool and an outer-dress like a pinafore called a ‘peplos’ which was held onto the underlayer by two brooches on the shoulders.

My tunics, dresses and ‘peplos’ are made from polycotton for easy care. The peplos is pinned with 2 antique bronze, decorated pins and joined across the chest with amber style beads. I have added a cloak to the boy’s tunics made from faux suede and lined with polycotton. This is fastened at the shoulder with a handmade antique bronze or silver effect pin.
